Photography (2023)

In the summer of 2023, I was fortunate to become part of LENSCAPES: Exploring Urban Identities through Photography as a Fine Art Medium, a Berlin Art Institute online course taught by Niklas Goldbach. This resulted in three photography series exploring streets, architecture, and bodies.

1.

Digital photos taken through home-constructed camera obscura, exploring a rural road as a continuation of the 377 km of Highway 99, central section of which, referred to as the Sea to Sky route, is known for its scenic quality as it cuts through unseeded and stole lands.

2.

The second series of images explores night architecture as the light seeks to position the camera and viewer among the darkness. The series composition is reminiscent of the guiding lights on the wings of airplanes: red on the left, green on the right.

3.

The last series considers the concept of “awkwardness”: in bodes, spaces, and composition of images. The series was made with deepest appreciation for my teenage child who graciously and tirelessly worked as a model and advisor.
