TEXTILES

In appreciation of the rich and complex history of feminist textile art and craft, I have been incorporating textiles and fibers into my practice. Of particular interest to me have been embroidery over paper, although I have also experimented with felt.

When I don’t have time to create material prototypes, I rely on digital collage to think through ideas. Below is a series of mock-up pages for a touch & feel book for toddlers that speaks to impure deeply political worlds which young children are already part of. The images were created for CAREC 2025 pre-conference: Inciting and Sustaining Radical Dialogues in Early Childhood Research: Studying Questions. The book incorporates quotes offered by Dr. Erin Manning and collaborators Diego Gil, Andre Bocchetti, and Khadija Baker during the CAREC Pre-Conference Event in previous year.
