This provocation was developed in respond to an online course THE PARADOX OF ART AND LABOUR by Adrian Melis @ Berlin Art Institute. The digital spatiality of zoom places us in a rectangular space. How might we gather together in digital spaces of these rooms? How might we play with and trouble the place allocated to us by this medium?

We might obscure the ever-seeing eye of the camera … or take inspiration from the sliding puzzle nature of the game of 15:

1. Simple composition: together: Each member of the zoom space creates part of the complete composition.

2. Movements: shifting situatedness: Because the location of view windows is different on every screen, constant movement and communication is required until the complete ‘picture’ is formed for each of the participants

3. Complexifying forms: specificities: What happens if we select more complex forms, needing to negotiate particularities of curves and distances?

4. Noticing: How might we respond to different aspect ratios? How might we notice others’ absences when their cameras are turned off?
