In a collage intensive, the brilliant teacher, artist and curator Viktor Melamed introduced an equally-brilliant exercise which he calls “stezakerisms” (after John Stezaker). Melamed’s playful invitation involves no photo-editing tools or event extensive cuts. Instead, in any collaborative online space with basic image cropping, two images are combined to create a new meaning. Aptly described as “quick and dirty”, it’s a highly addictive workout in search of visual (and not only) rhythms.
